Description
The Greco-Egyptian funerary stela depicts the entrance to an Egyptian temple. The remaining column is decorated with a composite floral capital supporting a lintel, a horizontal beam above a door. The lintel is decorated with a winged scarab. Two figures of the jackal god Anubis are standing on two chapels, guarding the door of the temple. The lintel of the door is decorated by the winged scarab and a finely serrated frieze. The deceased, a boy, stands at the entrance of the temple wearing a Greek mantle, or cloak. On the right side of his head there is a lock of hair, the traditional Egyptian sign of childhood.
