A tomb at Beni Hassan dating to this period is witness to this. A group of foreigners is depicted bearing the ingredients for cosmetics. Some of them have Semitic names. During Senwosret II's reign, a large-scale irrigation system was built in the Faiyum, which reclaimed a great deal of cultivable land. Senwosret II built his pyramid at Lahun.
