Green-glazed faience amulet in the form of the goddess Taweret, with body and swollen belly of a pregnant hippopotamus, legs of a lion, and crocodile tail down the back, combining three powerful images of the voracious. At the centre of the back is the hole for stringing the figure to the mummified body, as one in the extensive series of Late Period funerary amulets. Taweret was the goddess considered to protect women in childbirth, appropriate to the rebirth of the dead into their afterlife.
