Vase

1912249.jpg

Cylindrical vessel of calcite, roughly formed, from a burial at the 1st Dynasty cemetery at Tarkhan, between Memphis and the Faiyum. The grave contained the body of a man, lain facing toward the east, with the head to the north, and measured 30 by 60 by 78 inches. Beside the three types of pottery vessels were found six stone vessels, a mark of moderately wealthy status.
