Brush

BrE.0444.jpg

This brush, which comes from the excavations of B. Grenfell and A. Hunt at the Faiyum, is composed of vegetable stems, more specifically of the willow tree. They are fixed together by small strings which have been reinforced by a light stucco. The piece, dating from the Late Period, served to apply coatings or paintings.
