Description
The ibis was regarded as an incarnation of the god Thoth. In the Late Period and the Ptolemaic Period, the birds were mummified en masse and placed in catacombs. At the same time many votive statues like this one were manufactured. The ibis is shown striding. The legs were cast separately and are now missing. The place where the legs were attached to the body is preserved.

De ibis werd beschouwd als een verschijningsvorm van de god Thoth. In de Late en Ptolemeïsche Periode werden deze vogels massaal gemummificeerd en begraven in catacomben. Tegelijkertijd werden vele votiefbeeldjes zoals dit exemplaar gemaakt. De ibis is lopend afgebeeld. De poten zijn apart gegoten en ontbreken nu. De plek waar de poten waren aangehecht aan het lichaam is zichtbaar.
L'ibis était considéré comme une incarnation du dieu Thoth. A Basse Époque et pendant la Période Ptolémaïque, les oiseaux étaient momifiés massivement et placés dans des catacombes. En même temps, de nombreuses statues votives, comme celle-ci, étaient fabriquées. Cet ibis est représenté dans l'attitude de la marche. Les pattes, aujourd'hui perdues, ont été coulées séparément. Der Ibis galt in Ägypten als Inkarnation des Gottes Thoth. In der Spätzeit und der ptolemäischen Periode wurden die Vögel in Massen mumifiziert und in Katakomben bestattet. Gleichzeitig entstanden auch viele Votivstatuen wie diese. Der Ibis ist schreitend dargestellt. Die Beine wurden extra gegossen und fehlen heute. Die Ansätze der Beine sind am Rumpf erhalten.
