Description
This is a Coptic low-relief in marble, with geometric and floral motifs. The piece is a part of a large frieze; which, in turn, was part of a wall decoration. Friezes occasionally bore decorations depicting specific scenes and subjects, such as the grape harvest frieze exhibited at the Coptic Museum in Cairo. There are also friezes decorated with animal and plant designs to adorn the walls where they were placed.

Ce bas-relief copte en marbre comporte des motifs géométriques et floraux. Il fait partie d'une frise qui, à son tour, faisait partie d'une décoration murale. Les frises contenaient parfois des décorations illustrant des scènes ou des sujets particuliers, comme par exemple les vendanges représentées sur la frise exposée au musée copte du Caire. Il existe également des frises décorées d'animaux et de plantes qui ornent les murs des endroits où elles se trouvent.
قطعة قبطية من الرخام بالنحت الغائر، وبها رسومات هندسية وزهرية. والقطعة جزء من افريز كبير كان يستخدم لتزيين الحوائط. وكانت الأفاريز تتناول أحيانا موضوعاً معيناً مثل جنى العنب وهو معروض في المتحف القبطي بالقاهرة. وهناك بعض الأفاريز تزخرف بأشكال نباتية وحيوانية لتعطى الشكل الجمالي للمكان المراد وضع الإفريز عليه.
