Hemispherical bowl with a slightly restricted mouth. The inside was simply polished and preserves white traces of its contents. The exterior surface was more carefully treated: a fine layer of hematite slip has been burnished. The black border is irregular, but a 2 cm wide band has been glossed here. The incised decoration is very simple but typical of the era: a band of vertical lines at the bottom of the black border. This type of vase was generally used for cooking, though this particular piece was most probably a drinking vessel. The shape, technique and decoration are Nubian, more C-Group than Kerma, although the vase was discovered within the occupation levels of the Mirgissa/Iken fort> Possibly it was an object that was purchased from nearby Nubian populations by an Egyptian.

Bol hémisphérique à l'ouverture légèrement resserrée. L'intérieur est simplement lissé et conserve encore les traces blanchâtres du contenu. La surface extérieure est mieux travaillée: elle a été polie sur une fine couche d'hématite. Le bord noir est irrégulier, mais une bande de 2 cm a été lustrée. Le décor, incisé, est très simple mais représentatif de l'époque: une bande hachurée verticalement à la base du bord noir. Ce type de vase est généralement réservé à la cuisson, mais cet exemplaire est probablement un vase à boire. La forme, la technique et le décor sont nubiens, plutôt Groupe C que Kerma, mais le vase a été découvert dans les niveaux d'occupation de la forteresse de Mirgissa/Iken, peut-être donc un objet acquis par un &Eacute;gyptien auprès des populations nubiennes voisines.
