The Global Egyptian Museum

This oblong panel has incised ornamentation in the form of a large bear. It is supported by a rectangular panel held by a man standing on the right side of the panel. 

The man has almost shoulder-length hair. He is wearing a belt over his robe; the belt is tied in the front and the robe extends to his neck. The man is dancing with the bear over a machine. 

Most of the funerary panels, especially those found near Alexandria in monasteries, were carved from limestone, as the quarries of El Maks are near Alexandria, and also from Aswan, Akhmim, and Ashmunein. 

Some are sandstone, others limestone, and sometimes white marble. Some funerary panels are triangular, while others are oblong with gables at the top.

Il s'agit d'un panneau oblong avec une décoration gravée d'un grand ours. Il est soutenu par un panneau rectangulaire tenu par un homme debout sur la droite du panneau. 

L'homme a des cheveux longs, presque jusqu'aux épaules. Il porte une ceinture sur sa robe qui est attachée à l'avant et la robe se prolonge jusqu'à son cou. L'homme danse avec l'ours sur une machine.

La plupart des panneaux funéraires, spécialement ceux trouvés près d'Alexandrie dans des monastères, étaient sculptés dans la pierre à chaux car les carrières d'El Maks sont près d'Alexandrie. Ils venaient également d'Assouan, d'Akhmim et d'Ashmounein. 

Certains sont en grès, d'autres en pierre à chaux et parfois en marbre blanc. Certains panneaux funéraires sont triangulaires alors que d'autres sont oblongs avec des pignons au sommet. 

Ces panneaux étaient utilisés pour fermer l'entrée des tombeaux. Le nom du défunt, celui de ses parents, le pays et parfois la profession y étaient indiqués.

لوحة مستطيلة الشكل بزخارف محززة تصور دبا كبيرا، محمولة على لوحة يمسك بها رجل يقف على الجانب الأيمن منها. 

الرجل ذو شعر طويل يصل تقريبا إلى كتفيه، ويرتدي حزاما فوق ثوبه؛ والحزام مربوط من الأمام، والثوب يمتد إلى الرقبة. والرجل يرقص، مع الدب فوق آلة. 

معظم اللوحات الجنائزية، خاصة تلك التي عثر عليها بالأديرة القريبة من الإسكندرية، هي من الحجر الجيري؛ من محاجر المكس قرب الإسكندرية، وكذلك من أسوان والأشمونين. 

البعض من الحجر الرملي، وقلة من الرخام الأبيض. وبعض اللوحات الجنائزية مثلثة الشكل، والبعض الآخر مستطيل.

كانت تستخدم لغلق مداخل المقابر. وهي مغطاة بنقوش مكتوبة.
