Description
The statuette depicts a theater actor molded in terra-cotta. The actor is bald with grotesque features. He wears a tunic that bares his right shoulder and a mantle with decorated frame. He stands with his legs apart, holding up a feminine mask with closed lips, also known as a pantomime mask, in his left hand. His neck is decorated with a necklace. In the Greco-Roman period there were troupes touring the country playing pieces of drama, music, mime, and dance. The statuette, which shows an actor in caricature, underlines the popularity of the mime.

Cette statuette représente un acteur de théâtre moulé en terre cuite. L'acteur est chauve et présente des traits grotesques. Il porte une tunique qui découvre son épaule droite ainsi qu'un manteau orné d'un cadre. Les jambes écartées, il tient dans la main gauche un masque féminin aux lèvres fermées connu sous le nom de "masque pantomime". De plus, il porte un collier autour du cou. A l'époque greco-romaine, de nombreuses troupes voyageaient à travers le pays et jouaient des pièces de théâtre et de la musique. Elles faisaient également du mime et exécutaient des danses. Caricaturant un acteur, cette statuette souligne la popularité du mime.
تمثال صغير، من التراكوتا -الطين المحروق- لممثل مسرحي، يصوره بملامح قبيحة، ويرتدي تونيك يظهر كتفه الأيمن وعباءة بإطار مزركش. هو يقف منفرج الساقين، ويمسك في يده اليسرى بقناع أنثوي مضموم الشفتين الذي يعرف بقناع التمثيل الصامت، ويزين عنقه بعقد. كانت تجوب البلدة، في العصر الروماني، فرق لتقديم عروض في التمثيل والعزف والفنون الهزلية والرقص. ويبرز التمثال الشعبية الهائلة بالتمثيل الهزلي.
