Statuette of the God Bes

EM-3-5298_800x800[1].jpg

Bes, the dwarf god of joy and happiness, is a household deity. This statuette depicts him in his usual manner with grotesque, mask-like facial features. He has the ears and mane of a lion and his legs are bowed.

A beard is engraved on his chin. Seven small feathers are etched above his head. His hands are resting on his knees; the eyes, bracelets, and feathers are painted red.
