Description
The statue of a seated man without papyrus roll or reed is a common variant of the scribal figure. The shape is ideal for the aim of Egyptian three-dimensional art, namely straight lines, clear structure and a geometrical form. The legs, crossed in front of the seat, form the horizontal axis for the vertical upper body, which forms a pyramid together with the base. The statue emanates the calm and peace, transcending time that the owner hopes for in his life in the hereafter. The material indicates that this funerary statue had a special meaning - the hard stone guarantees longevity.
