The Global Egyptian Museum

This oblong funerary panel has an upper end, which is semicircular. At the top of the panel there are three decorative units, each in the form of a small cross. Palm leaves are also distributed over the panel, four at the top and two almost in the center. 

The letters of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ are inscribed on the panel. Traces of other letters in red can be seen. The crosses here are in the form of the Ankh, the symbol of life in ancient Egypt; these are also in red. On this panel, the sign is developed until it is in the form of the cross.

This panel was found in Upper Egypt. The Ankh, as the symbol of life, always accompanied the gods in religious scenes. During some periods it was also considered to be the key to the Nile. 

Later, it became the symbol of Christianity. It meant that the followers of Christ were sure that Christ, although crucified at the hands of the Romans, was still alive.

Il s'agit d'un panneau funéraire oblong dont la partie supérieure est semi-circulaire. En haut du panneau, on voit trois unités décoratives ayant chacune la forme d'une petite croix. Des feuilles de palmier sont également réparties sur le panneau, quatre en haut et deux presque au centre. 

Les lettres du nom du Seigneur Jésus-Christ sont inscrites sur le panneau. On distingue des traces d'autres lettres, en rouge. Ici, les croix ont la forme de l'Ankh, le symbole de la vie en Egypte ancienne. Elles sont également en rouge. D'autres panneaux de pierre portent l'Ankh. Sur ce panneau, le signe est développé jusqu'à atteindre la forme de la croix.

Ce panneau fut trouvé en Haute Egypte. L'Ankh, en tant que symbole de vie, accompagne toujours les dieux dans les scènes religieuses. Au cours de certaines périodes, on considérait également qu'il était la clé du Nil. 

Plus tard, il devint le symbole de la Chrétienté. Il signifie que les disciples du Christ étaient sûrs que ce dernier, bien que crucifié des mains des Romains, était encore vivant.

لوحة جنائزية مستطيلة الشكل، بنهاية شبه مستديرة؛ وعلى القمة ثلاث وحدات زخرفية؛ كل منها في شكل صليب. وسعف النخيل موزع أيضا على اللوحة؛ أربع عند القمة، واثنتان في الوسط تقريبا. 

نقش اسم يسوع المسيح على اللوحة، وتظهر آثار حروف باللون الأحمر. والصلبان هنا على شكل علامة العنخ، رمز الحياة في مصر القديمة؛ وهي أيضا باللون الأحمر. وهناك لوحات حجرية أخرى تحمل علامة العنخ، وفي هذه اللوحة؛ طورت العلامة حتى أخذت شكل الصليب. 

عثر على هذه اللوحة بالصعيد. علامة العنخ، كرمز للحياة، رافقت الآلهة دائما في المناظر الدينية. واعتبرت في بعض الفترات أيضا مفتاح النيل.

ثم أصبحت في وقت لاحق رمزا للمسيحية. وهذا الرمز يعني أن أتباع المسيح على يقين بأنه، رغم صلبه على أيدي الرومان، فإنه يبقي حيا.
