The Global Egyptian Museum

This oblong panel has a circular top, over which is a gable of two connected triangles. These are separated by a decoration in the form of dots. In the center of the gable there is a half flower surrounded by a half circle. Above the gable, there is an ornament of leaves. The gable is supported by two columns, the shafts of which are shaped like palm leaves. 

In the center of the gable, there is an eagle with plants at the sides of its talons. Beneath this decoration is an inscription in two lines that reads "EIPOCOBWE/OWNHOVCHC." No decoration is in the lower part of the panel. The upper portion is partly broken. 

The museum possesses over 200 such funerary panels with inscriptions, some of which are in Greek while others are in Coptic. Similar panels have been found in Alexandria, as well as in various places in Upper and Lower Egypt, especially Aswan, Akhmim, and Ashmunein. 

Some of them are carved in marble, sandstone, and limestone. Some are triangular, others are oblong with a gable at the top.

Il s'agit d'un panneau oblong avec un sommet circulaire au-dessus duquel on voit un pignon de deux triangles reliés. Ils sont séparés par une décoration sous la forme de points. Au centre du pignon, on voit une demi-fleur entourée d'un demi-cercle. Au-dessus du pignon, on voit une décoration de feuilles. Le pignon est soutenu par deux colonnes dont les fûts sont en forme de feuilles de palmier. 

Au centre du pignon, on voit un aigle avec des plantes autour de ses serres. Sous cette décoration, on lit une inscription sur deux lignes : "EIPOCOBWE/OWNHOVCHC". La partie inférieure du panneau ne comporte aucune décoration. La portion supérieure est partiellement cassée. 

Le musée possède plus de 200 de ces panneaux funéraires avec des inscriptions dont certaines sont en grec et d'autres en copte. Des panneaux similaires ont été trouvés à Alexandrie ainsi que dans différents endroits de Haute et de Basse Egypte, et plus spécialement à Assouan, à Akhmim et à Ashmounein. 

Certains sont sculptés dans le marbre, le grès et la pierre à chaux. Certains sont triangulaires, d'autres sont oblongs avec un pignon au sommet.

لوحة مستطيلة الشكل، بقمة مستديرة يعلوها جمالون متصل بمثلثين؛ وفي منتصف الجمالون نصف زهرة محاطة بدائرة، وتعلوه زخرفة بأوراق؛ وهو محمل على عمودين جذعهما على شكل سعف نخيل. 

كما أن في وسط الجمالون نسر بنباتات على جانبي مخلبيه. وتحت الزخرفة نقش مكتوب من سطرين:"EIPOCOBwE OwNHOVCH" ولا توجد زخارف في الجزء السفلي، كما أن القسم العلوي تالف جزئيا. 

يضم المتحف ما يربو على مائتي نقش جنائزي مكتوب؛ بعضها باللغة اليونانية، بينما البقية باللغة القبطية. وعثر على اللوحة بأحد الأديرة غرب الإسكندرية؛ وعثر على لوحات مماثلة في أجزاء مختلفة من الوجه البحري والصعيد: خاصة في أسوان وأخميم والأشمونين. 

بعضها من الرخام والبعض الآخر من الحجر الرملي الأسواني أو من الحجر الجيري؛ وبعض هذا من محاجر المكس بالإسكندرية. وبعض هذه اللوحات الجنائزية مثلث الشكل والبعض الآخر مستطيل الشكل؛ بجمالون على القمة.
