The Global Egyptian Museum

The billon coin, an alloy of bronze and silver, is dated to the first year of the reign of Nero. On the obverse, the portrait of Nero looks to the right and he wears the radiant crown. Around the portrait is a Greek inscription.

On the reverse, the portrait of Serapis looks to the right. Serapis wears a himation, which is a rectangular cloth draped over the left shoulder and about the body. On his head is the laurel crown, and the kalathos, measure of grain, that is a symbol of abundance and fertility.

In front of him the symbol "L I" is inscribed, denoting the first year of the reign of Nero. There is also an inscription in Greek.

Cette pièce de billon, un alliage de bronze et d'argent, date de la première année du règne de Néron. Sur l'avers, Néron regarde vers la droite et est coiffé de la couronne rayonnante. Autour de son portrait, on peut voir une inscription en grec. 

Sur le revers, le portrait de Sérapis est tourné vers la droite. Ce dieu porte un himation, ou tissu rectangulaire drapé sur l'épaule gauche et autour du corps. Il est coiffé d'une couronne de laurier et du "kalathos", ou mesure de grains symbolisant l'abondance et la fertilité.

Face à lui, le signe "L I" représente la première année du règne de Néron. Une inscription en grec est également visible.

تؤرخ تلك العملة من سبيكة البرونز والفضة بالعام الأول من حكم نيرون، حيث تجلى على وجهها صورة نيرون متجهاً يميناً بالتاج البراق ومن حول الصورة نص إغريقي. 

وعلى الوجه الأخر صورة سيرابيس ينظر إلى اليمين إذ يتخذ سيرابيس الهيماتيون وهي ثوب مستطيل يشمل الكتف الأيسر وسائر الجسد. هو يرتدى على الرأس تاج من اكليل الغار والكلاثوس، وهو مقياس للغلال، ويشير الى الوفرة والرخاء

من أمامه نقش رمز " L I " دلالة على العام الأول من حكم نيرون، فضلاً عن نص بالإغريقية.
