Description
The gold plaque, inscribed with black ink in both Greek and Egyptian, commemorates the establishment of the Harpocrates temple at the Serapeum in Alexandria. It is unusual to find a temple dedicated to the god Harpocrates, who was the son in the Alexandrian triad. The temple was dedicated to Harpocrates by order of Serapis and Isis, as stated in the inscription. The foundation of that temple dated to the reign of Ptolemy the Fourth Philopator.
