The Global Egyptian Museum

The well-worked terra-cotta lamp shows a gymnasium's portico, a covered entrance of a building. Inside the portico, a schoolmaster, called the "Paedotribe," is apparently punishing a child. 

Hermes, god of science, is depicted as a hermaphrodite. The statue is in the form of a herm, a square stone pillar topped with a head. The herm stands in front of a portico of columns with Corinthian capitals. A child holding a torch is running to the right. 

Two shields and what is, perhaps, a suspended punching bag for boxing hang on the wall at the back of the portico. Under the punching bag, another child cleans himself after a game.

Bien façonnée, cette lampe en terre cuite montre le portique, ou entrée couverte, d'un gymnase. Dans ce portique, un maître d'école du nom de "Paedotribe" punit un enfant. 

Hermès, dieu des sciences, est représenté comme un hermaphrodite. La statue est sous une forme de pilier carré en pierre surmonté d'une tête. Elle se trouve face à un portique composé de colonnes ornées de chapiteaux corinthiens. On peut également voir un enfant tenant une torche courir vers la droite.

Deux boucliers et ce qui ressemble à un sac de sable utilisé en boxe sont accrochés au mur derrière le portique. Sous ce sac, un autre enfant se nettoie après un match.

في داخل الصفة معلم يسمى "البايدوتريب" يبدو وهو يعاقب طفلاً، كما صور هيرميس رب العلم على هيئة خنثى. 

والتمثال في هيئة عمود مربع من حجر في قمته رأس، ويقوم هيرميس أمام صفة من أساطين ذوات تيجان كورنثية، وطفل ممسك بمشعل يجرى إلى اليمين، ثم ترسان وما عساه حقيبة ملاكمة معلقة على الحائط في مؤخرة الصفة، ومن تحت حقيبة الملاكمة طفل آخر يغتسل من بعد مباراة.
