Advanced

The advanced mode opens up the full database - presently 14975 objects - to professionals and amateurs. Both data entry and retrieval is based on the Integrated Multilingual Egyptological Thesaurus (MET), which was approved by CIPEG as the standard for electronic databases (Boston 1996). The ‘passport data’ and one digital image have been entered for each object at least.

CIPEG supports the idea that object information and digital images from all Egyptian collections be gathered under one umbrella, and made available to all at no cost. CIPEG suggested that this should occur under its aegis and supports the Global Egyptian Museum. CIPEG invites all public and private collections to participate in the GEM (Alexandria 2005).

Public and private collections that are willing to contribute to the GEM are kindly requested to contact the curators of the site, via gem-info@ccer.nl.
