Description
This is a small cylindrical stone kohl vase with a base. It has a relatively narrow mouth, and the body is wide enough for the insertion of a finger or a specially designed applicator. It is provided with a tight-fitting lid to protect the kohl from dust or wind. The exterior surface of the pot and its lid are decorated with simple geometric designs. Kohl was used by both men and women in ancient Egypt, and kohl pots like this one were found in hundreds of tombs.

Muni d'une ouverture relativement étroite, ce petit pot à khôl en pierre est de forme cylindrique et une base. Son corps est suffisamment large que pour y insérer un doigt ou un applicateur spécialement conçu à cet effet. Il est pourvu d'un couvercle permettant de protéger le khôl de la poussière et de l'air. La surface externe de ce pot et son couvercle sont décorés de motifs géométriques simples. Le khôl était utilisé tant par les hommes que par les femmes dans l'Egypte ancienne. D'ailleurs, des pots à khôl tels que celui-ci furent retrouvés dans des centaines de tombes.
هذه مكحلة اسطوانية صغيرة بقاعدة. وهى ذات فتحة ضيقة نوعاً ما، فى حين أن بدنها يتسع لإدخال إصبع أو أداة خاصة لوضع الكحل. والمكحلة مزودة بغطاء يغلق بإحكام لكى يحمى الكحل من الأتربة وتيارات الهواء. ولقد زينت المكحلة وغطاؤها بأشكال هندسية بسيطة. وجدير بالذكر ان الكحل كان يستخدمه كل من الرجال والنساء فى مصر القديمة، كما وجد الكثير من أمثال هذه المكحلة فى مئات المقابر.
