Bone

Bone.jpg

The Egyptians often made use of animal bones to make (small) objects; bone objects are already known from the Neolithic period. The material was plentiful and easily available and was also simple to work. Supplied with a sharp point (something that some types of fishbone have naturally), bits of bone could be used as pins or needles, as awls and other tools to bore with, or as arrow and harpoon points. Beads, small pieces of jewellery such as rings, and toilet articles such as combs and make-up pots were also made from bone.
