Sarapis Cosmocrator

The terracotta medallion represents Zeus Helios Sarapis Cosmocrator, meaning the main greaco-egyptian god in his aspect of master of the universe and the incarnation of imperial power. He wears a luxuriant wig and a 'calathos', a type of basket. The bust is placed on a globe expressing universal sovereignty. The circle which surrounds it is a solar symbol.
