Papyrus Burnisher of Tutankhamun

406-4EM-1-3495-_800x800.jpg

Papyrus was used for writing religious, mythological, historical and epistolary documents.

When the surface of the prepared papyrus was uneven or rough, it was polished with smooth pieces of stones, wood or even ivory to burnish the surface before writing on it. This delicate polisher is made of ivory, attached to a gold handle topped with a stylized lotus flower.
